VisualTaskTips is a shell enhancement utility for Windows XP users. Windows Vista featured a nice addition in terms of graphics. It enabled users to see a thumbnail of the Windows by simply placing the pointer on top of the Window's button on the taskbar. This is more than a graphical tweak though. I have seen that this graphical effect allowed me to be more productive, because it helped me be faster and more accurate. If you have several windows opened, and you have to open and close each one of them at the time to get to the window that you were looking for, it will take you forever. Instead, by simply looking at the thumbnails, you get there faster. I haven't found an option to make the thumbnails bigger, and that would be great, since with modern computers, you can take full advantage of this tweak. Also, in the Windows Vista counterpart, you not only see a static thumbnail of the window, you see its whole contents moving. So if you had video playing, it would show in the thumbnail. That is just great. Also, the application is free of charge. |
